AdsGen Launches Online App for Selling Virtual Items from MMORPGs
Ottawa, Ontario (PRWEB) July 27, 2011
AdsGen today launched its new social shopping cart application for selling virtual gaming items from Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games (MMORPG’s). The social shopping cart, as the company calls it, allows players to sell their virtual game gold and other in-game items on their Facebook page, blog or website for real world dollars. Users will be able to safely and securely receive payments using Paypal Payments Standard.
The social shopping cart is a small widget sized storefront, which can be added to a webpage by copying and pasting a single line of code. The application can be downloaded and added at no cost. Users only pay for sales completed using the shopping cart.
The service was created to increase the profitability of selling in-game items, lower the risk of buying and selling virtual goods on a player-to-player basis, and create an easy-to-use alternative to buying and selling game items through third party resellers.
Currently, the most common way for gamers to buy and sell their in-game gold and other virtual goods has been to use third party resellers. However there has been a surprisingly high rate of fraud among buyers and sellers of virtual goods. The resellers, who operate as a middle man to the transaction, buy virtual items from MMORPG players at a highly discounted price and then resell them at a sizable profit.
AdsGen provides a better option, which will help gamers directly sell items through their own social networks, thereby minimizing the chances of fraud and increasing pay out. CEO Matthew L’Arrivee states, “By removing the middle man and allowing gamers to sell to their own social groups, we are able to make selling virtual items safer and more financially rewarding”.
For players who don’t have the time to spend several hours a day playing online multiplayer games, such as World of Warcraft, the ability to securely purchase virtual goods provides the means to quickly advance to levels of game play that are more enjoyable and challenging.
As stated on the AdsGen website, the registration, creation and deployment of the AdsGen social shopping cart application is free. When the user makes a sale, AdsGen retains a 20% service fee, which is subtracted from the total amount paid by the buyer. But for early birds, AdsGen is currently offering the service as a free public beta with no service fees charged on sales.
AdsGen offers various other online shopping cart applications focused on making it easier for casual sellers to sell online.
